The 2020 Tempranillo Reserve is one of my favorite wines. With a hot dry year, berry sizes were small and flavors were concentrated while chemistry was surprisingly good. We used several different Tempranillo blocks and vineyards to make this wine, each bringing to the table something different. Some have more tannin, some more red fruit, some more black. Blending in Alicante and Cinsault boosted the depth and the fruit on this wine, while Graciano added structure and earth. We’ve also been increasing the use of French oak on our Tempranillo which has been contributing to more fruit, structure, and hints of minerality in our Temps.
