Winemaker Notes
The Kuhlken Vineyard Grenache has been one of Winemaker Joanna’s favorite blocks since she started working in the vineyard and she is particularly excited to share this limited release of 100% un-fined, 100% KV Grenache with you. This is a smaller planting for the estate, and the vines are about 11 years old. As such, even if we wanted to make much more we will need to wait to put more vines in the ground to get more yield. Grenache does a wonderful job of holding acid in this hot climate of Texas, it ripens without much fuss, and provides just beautiful aromatics of fresh strawberries– our Winemaker says she is reminded of strawberry picking in the New England summers with this wine. We hope drinking it will similarly remind you of your most pleasant memories, or at least aid you in creating some.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine is a great aperitif and is easy and lovely to drink on it’s own. It pairs beautifully with soft goat cheeses, blueberry salads, trout or salmon seasoned with dill. The higher alcohol of this wine would help cleanse the palate of delicious, fatty red meats or spicy foods as well.
